We believe in a Taatini that is not time and volume based but quality based. We believe in traditional practices. We are conscious of the effects we have as a brand on artisans and eco systems. We believe in innovation while preserving our textile heritage. A Taatini collection is exclusive, of a superior quality with limited pieces.
Taatini draws inspiration from the textile traditions of the Bodo, the Ahom, the Mising and the Naga communities. The designs are rooted in nature reflecting the natural beauty of the Northeast, and bringing age-old motifs into the modern world.
Taatini brings you handwoven Eri silk stoles from the northeast of India. The abundant natural fauna in this region is home to many silk-bearing moths and worms. Unique to Assam, Eri is a silk yarn spun from such cocoons. It is known as the “peace silk” as the worm is not killed during the manufacturing process. Eri is a natural off-white yarn. It can be dyed in a range of natural dyes extracted from the surrounding vegetation. Eri yarn is ideal for lightweight stoles. All processes, beginning from the cultivation of cocoons and preparation of handspun yarns to weaving fabrics are carried out using traditional methods.
